Asda giving kids Sporting Chance

Supermarket chain Asda has been encouraging children across the UK to get fit with a range of free sports and activity sessions.

Taking place during every school holiday, over 300,000 sessions have been run each week with at least five different sessions taking place within 10 miles of every Asda store.

Deborah Grass, head of Asda in the Community says: "We already have over 4,000 sports providers signed up to the scheme and more are being added every day, from traditional sports like football and tennis to cheerleading and circus skills."

Asda's Sporting Chance sessions come on the back of a recent report concluding that 75 per cent of children are not getting the recommended hour of daily physical activity outside of school.
